Ignacio Platas aka Once11 is known for distinctive emotional
collages that bring together eclectic sound sources, operatic
designs and digital intricacy. He always integrates an omnisensorial
sensibility that exploits more than one plane of sensorial
input. The audio aspect of his work is filled with references
to various electronic music styles such as drum 'n' bass,
house, dub, dance hall, and 1950s musique concrète,
his urban visual narratives incorporate a wide variety of
"popular" sounds to reflect the tensions and chaos
of today as malleable realities: as he explains: "FibonacciCopter_
was created replacing snd resources on an "aleatoric
algorithmic max composition" patch by otto henry: fibonacciBlues_
[with 3 helicopter recordings] and a live ~paf rendition of
an imaginary Military chopper_making it a good example of
recombinant genres: one music branch (illbient) with an aleatoric
algorithmic modification. The term illbient comes from a combination
of "ambient" and hip-hop culture's complimentary
"ill," a word used when unlikely pairs of things,
like clothing or colors, are put together and unexpectedly
produce successful results.
